Interline Resort Discounts
Interline Discounts at resorts in the Caribbean, Mexico and Central America offer airline employees some great prices and options for an interline vacation.
The lowest prices on all-inclusive resorts will typically be found in the Dominican Republic and Mexico. 5 star resorts will typically run well under $100 a day and in some cases under $50 a day! That includes all of the drinks and food plus your room. Now you can see why All-Inclusive resort vacations are so popular with airline employees
The best time to find deals is from fall to Mid December when it is low season in the Caribbean and Mexico. The rates are lower, the weather is great and the beaches are less crowded. But outside of the major holidays (Christmas, New Years) and Spring Break you can pretty much find something available somewhere!
Now most resorts offer what is called "Bump Protection" for airline employees who are coming down. The resorts know we fly standby and "Bump Protection" is a benefit they offer airline employees.
What is "Bump Protection"? Bump protection is where the hotel allows the airline employee to call the hotel or the interline agency you booked with and rebook your travel dates should you get bumped from your flight.
For instance, say you have booked a 3 night stay at a resort in Aruba to arrive tomorrow. Tomorrow your flight gets cancelled, you scramble but all of the other flights are full and you can't get to Aruba. You check the flight loads and figure out that the day after tomorrow you should have no problem getting to Aruba on your standby tickets. You then call the resort in Aruba or your interline travel agency, tell them you won't be able to get there and want to reschedule for arrival the following day.
The hotel changes your reservation and does not charge you a penalty or a change fee. This assumes the hotel is available for your new dates.
If not and you need to rebook for next week or next month and the hotel is available and the rate is the same they simply move your booking to the new dates.
Now if the rate goes up, you pay the new higher price. If you want to cancel the booking completely then you pay the hotels cancellation fees.
Note: There is no charge for this "Bump Protection" so don't let some interline travel agency try to get you to pay some made up fee for this by calling it "Bump Insurance". If they try to do that, go find another interline travel agency to deal with.

Now there are about 300 resorts in the Caribbean, Mexico and Central America that offer interline resort discounts.
Most of these discounts are available to airline employees, spouses, retirees and parents of the employee. Many of the hotels will allow interliners to get additional rooms and some even extend the rates to extended family & friends, traveling with or without the employee.
Another thing to avoid is the rediculous booking fee many interline agencies tack onto your booking. This fee is often not mentioned when you are calling around checking rates so if you call around be sure and ask them to tell you about any booking fees or service fees they are going to charge you on top of the resort price they quote you. Many interline agencies now charge as much as $40 per person to book an interline resort rate.
This is why we recommend you contact InterlineTravel.com at 800 766-2911 or in the DFW at 817 481-8631. Why do we recommend them? They handle almost 300 resorts and DO NOT CHARGE ANY BOOKING FEES! They do charge a $50 per room, late fee if you book within 5 business days of arrival as they have to overnight or wire transfer the funds to your hotel prior to your arrival.
