Interline Rental Car Discounts
Interline Rental Car Discounts are typically available from most of the major rental car companies on a space available basis. By that we mean when they lots of cars sitting around most any rental car company will offer an airline employee discount rate on select models.
When they don't have a lot of cars sitting around, you will be hard pressed to find a discount.
Shop around is our best advice. You might find a airline employee discount from car company A for $40 a day, while car company B offers a non airline employee rate of $35 a day.
Off airport car companies often offer a lower rate to start with than rental car companies located on the airport. Then you need to see what each offers as a discount for the time you want to go and the type of car you want.
The smaller the car, typically the lower the rate.
Now if you are wanting a one way rental, then that is a whole other story and rate plan. Sometimes if the car rental company has a bunch of cars out of place (meaning the location in Phoenix for instance has a bunch of California cars) and you want to rent a one way going to where they need cars sent, they might offer a really attractive rate. But this type of situation does not always exist so the one way drop fees can be quite high.
At InterlineTravel.com they offer a way to shop interline rates for Avis, Budget and Auto Europe online in their members section. They rate that comes up will default to the lowest available rate, whether it is an interline discount or a public rate.
Afterall, don't you want the lowest rate regardless of whether it's an interline discount or not?
So shop around and be flexible on your car type and you can find some great rates out there.
